Cancer is one of the most hazardous types of disease that can lead to death. This is one of the most common diseases in the recent past. Cancer can occur in any parts of the body such as brain, breast, liver, throat, bone, mouth, lung, stomach, leg, etc. Amongst these, the most common part is the lung. The lung cancer is a common problem for both the genders either it be male or female. According to the recent conducted survey, it was found that more than 1.5 lakh people died due to lung cancer in a year. The major symptoms of lung cancer are pneumonia, problems in breathing, inflammation in the neck region, loss of appetite and pain in the chest region.
In early times, surgery was the sole treatment for lung cancer. But with the introduction of lung cancer chemotherapy, it became easy to treat cancer by destroying the cancerous cells. The main cause of lung cancer is caused by smoking cigarette and eating tobacco. This is usually common in men, as almost 90% are found due to this case. The risk of lung cancer is common in chain smokers as well as intake of tobacco and other harmful substances in bulk. The other substances that prove to be harmful and can cause lung cancer are nickel, chloromethyl ethers, arsenic, mustard gas, air pollution, etc. The ratio of men to women is 10% to 5%.
It is important that lung cancer has to be detected at the early stage so that we can take necessary steps to cure it. Initially the drugs are given orally in the form of tablet as suggested by the doctors. But at the second stage, drugs are combined and injected to the body of the patients. This is called as intravenous chemotherapy. It is recommended not to increase or decrease the dose of the medicines without the consent of the doctors, as it can produce negative after effect. Unfortunately there are some side-effects of chemotherapy such as sour throat, constipation, changes in the taste, vomiting, nausea, loss of appetite, loss of hair, allergic reaction, and diarrhea. Therefore doctors perform some tests before suggesting the patient for chemotherapy. Along with this, the patient who are undergoing chemotherapy radiation need to be mentally strong, so as to bear the pain. The best part of the lung cancer chemotherapy is that it destroys the cancerous cells permanently. Cancer chemotherapy can also be performed after the surgery in order to stop the spreading of cancerous cells in the other parts of the body.
